Twilight zone glitch in Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess — literally. Although the numbers are as of yet small, the glitch is far from being minute as it permanently blocks their way forward that they have to start again.

Now, nobody likes being forced to start back from scratch for no apparent reason, especially when you’ve already gone so far ahead. The bug appears when saving your progress at a specific point in the game. This here is the tricky part. If you don’t want any more spoilers, you better stop reading right now. But as it concerns a glitch, and we don’t want anymore of you guys tripping over the same stone, we’re gonna say it anyway.

So, right after thawing out the frozen Zora’s domain, it appears that the glitch is activated. The following cutscene is then blocked, so to speak. The thing is, this next cutscene is where a new path is opened. So, if the cutscene is blocked, you can’t get to the next path, which essentially keeps you from progressing in the game.

While waiting for Nintendo to give its comments on the matter, just be careful with your saves, i tend to save everytime i just finish something time consuming or i try every 30 minutes, what i do is alternate save slots so i always have 2 recent game saves with me in case this ever happens. I normally do it for every game.

Virtual Console Baseball screens

Here are some screenshots from the downloadable version of the classic NES game, Baseball. This version here is for Nintendo’s Virtual Console service.

Now, for those of you still not in touch with this version, you might want to try it out. After all, it does offer nine innings of tight sandlot competition in this NES sports title. There also are six teams for you to choose from as you play through all nine innings. So, while the players are certainly not Mii-made, it’s just as fun. After all, you can never get enough of classics.

WiinVi v0.3 Alpha

Time for your daily fix of the WiiCR Team’s latest media player app release. Going hand-in-hand with their WiiCR player, the Windows Vista skin WiinVi just got an upgrade. The theme is now up in v0.3 Alpha and one of the biggest features is that you can easily allow you to select different drives through the interface by clicking on the computer icon on the QuickLaunch Bar.

Here’s the full changelog for the WiinVi v0.3 Alpha theme:

* Icon Backgrounds Transparent
* Made the Forward and Backward buttons on the image page stay mostly still
* Made the Image on Imageview Clickable (jumps to next Image)
* Made mp3 player look like rest of the theme
* Several other random tweaks and fixes
* No Internet Radio yet

Note that you first need to have a copy of the WiiCR media player itself installed. Once that’s done:

1. Extract the files in the WiinVi v0.3 Alpha theme to the themes directory (C:Program Filesxampphtdocswmcthemes)
2. Access the Settings section in WiiCR
3. Click the Theme Selection Box, Change the Value to the Theme you want to use
4. Press the “Change Theme” button

Custom Mii buttons for the social Wii player

It seems completely frivolous, but you can’t deny how cute it is. Some enterprising fellows are offering different sorts of services that’ll help you show off your Mii to the outside word. In one case, it’s not only a way to show it off, but also a way to exchange your Wii numbers with your new real-life friends for a virtual round of Wii Bowling.

It’s called Mii Buttons. Basically, someone is taking orders from people who want to have a pair of buttons with their Mii avatars on it. These one-inch Mii buttons will also carry your 16-digit Wii number, so if you wanted to trade Wii numbers with someone, you can just loosen up that button and show them your invitation.

The only thing we have issues with right now is that there’s no name behind the person making it. While the idea is cool, some additional form of public disclosure would make it seem a lot less like a scam or an attempt to amass Wii numbers (for what purpose, we’ve no clue). Still, if you’ve got US$ 3.50, some time, and don’t mind taking a chance for some new buttons to adorn your pack, then it sounds like a worthwhile trade.

Radio program responsible for “Hold Your Wee” is off the air

News about people taking responsibility for circumstances, or about people taking steps to address a concern is always good. No matter how depressing the moment, or the history behind the situation, it is always good. A bit of follow-up research leads us to this message on endonline.com:

All of you are probably aware of the tragic death of a contestant, Jennifer Strange, following her participation in a contest on the Morning Rave last Friday.

First and foremost, our thoughts and sympathies go out to Jennifer’s family and loved ones.

I also want to assure you that the circumstances regarding this matter are being examined as thoroughly as possible. We are doing everything we can to deal with this difficult situation in a manner that is both respectful and responsible. In the interim, the Morning Rave is off the air indefinitely.

Thank you.

John Geary
Vice-President & General Manager
107.9 THE END

Thank goodness that so far, no entity has spun this story and blamed video games or the need to play them. More importantly, thank goodness the folks from the radio station are doing something about this.

There is a message on their website which was taken down READ IT HERE.

Wii - 1 / Fat - 0

When the Wii first came out you may have heard of the “Wii Sports Experiment.” Some average joe decided to play Wii Sports for 30 minutes everyday for 6 weeks. In the process tracking all vital health statistics. His results are finally up, and they’re pretty interesting. Being the jerk that I am… I’ll ruin the ending for you, he lost 9 pounds!

Clearly the man was really getting into the games, bouncing around for boxing and taking full, tennis swings that would make plasma televisions shudder… but it’s still pretty damn impressive. I suppose this will draw the inevitable comment “Of course he lost weight, he’s moving for 30 minutes a day.” To which I say, shut up!

This post is devoted to the countless female Mii’s that this man surely beat up on during Wii Boxing Matches, all in the name of losing weight. I hope you’re proud of yourself sir.

I know they’re only beads but…

I know this post should probably go under News Get! because I’m pretty sure that in terms of news, “Gaming-related Bead Crafts” falls right in between “I just ate corn dog” and “Man crosses street unhurt.”

But flickr user “foglera” has a gallery full of game characters made from those beads that you iron together after arranging them in a pattern. They are apparently called “Perler Beads.” I remember making hearts for my mom in every fluorescent color in the damn box. Which, looking back, I’m sure she instantly threw away for their sheer uselesness.

But these things, they’re so COOL! And so pixelated! And there are a ton of games and characters represented. And they’re PIXELS! Like they had on the SNES! PIXELS!

Ghostbusters Game – Wishful Thinking?

Some of you, by now, must have seen these videos circulating on YouTube already – they’re of a seriously, super-duper impressive Ghostbusters mod of either the Gears of War engine, or the Source engine. Now, I’m a huge fan of Ghostbusters, and I’ve been one since I first set eyes upon the movie when my dad bought a VHS of the movie in the early 90s – and yes, as a fan, I bought and played all the games.

You know how it is when you’re a little kid, though. Games like Battletoads seemed like completely reasonable games, despite their obvious flaw of being quite literally impossible to beat.

However, growing up as a gamer (and specifically, a Nintendo fan), I’ve watched the franchises I love evolve and mature into beautiful, classic games. Now that TMNT is heading back to the screen, all that’s left in my mind is good ol’ Ghostbusters.

That’s why, after watching the videos of an obviously fan-made mod, I fell so in love with the concept. The fact that Ghostbusters is made so eloquently in a third-person Gears-type game model is just making me slobber in anticipation for whatever the crap this is. Rumor is, however, that the game’s a concept conjured up by European-based level 10 wizards ZootFly.

Please, God. If you’re listening, make a new Ghostbusters game.

Control scheme screens for SSX Blur on Wii

A few days ago, we let you in on how the snowboarding Wii game, SSX Blur, will use the Wiimote. It was a detailed description and all, but sometimes to really understand how things are gonna work, we need some visuals. It’s a good thing that the respected Newsweek mainstay, N’Gai Croal, let us in with some screenshots of the control scheme for EA’S SSX Blur.

The game’s producer, Alex Hyde also added that the Wii controllers’ motion-sensing features seemed to be a perfect fit to the nature of the game. Aside from that, he added that the Wii controllers “allowed us to add a level of depth to the game that isn’t possible on a traditional gamepad using a complex combinations of buttons. Also, the fact that the control scheme is more physical causes the player to be much more engaging and immersive experience, which is a real plus.”

Looks good to us. Now we just have to wait for a couple of months to try the game. For now, taking a look at the control schemes ain’t gonna hurt.

Vid: 480p vs. 480i

Are you wondering if there’s any difference when it comes to having 480p or 480i while playing on your Wii? Well, YouTube user, TheFNGSpot, might be able to help you out. TheFNGSpot writes this as the description of the video he uploaded:

Side by side comparison of the Nintendo Wii playing Zelda: Twilight Princess on my Sony KDSR60XBR2 HD TV.. One Side is using component cables (480p) & the other is composite cables (480i).

If you look at the video above, the over-saturation of the reds and blacks on 480i is clearly noticeable. Is this more reason to spend for those component cables? Your call, really. We do have to note that there have been reports of the Wii having a few problems with 480p.

Just a little something to help you folks out.

Wii Wireless Sensor Bar

If you’re one of the many Wii owners unable to adequately stretch Nintendo’s Wii sensor bar from your entertainment center to your television then you’ll be happy to read of peripheral maker Nyko’s latest development. The company at CES 2007 revealed its wireless Wii sensor bar and it may finally solve a number of issues for gamers whose living rooms don’t follow the entertainment center template.

We should note that this is not the first wireless Wii sensor bar to hit the market. We recently reviewed another model from a third party, but the bar was both clumsily pieced together and unable to output more IR power than a standard wired bar — hence, gamers could not sit farther than 10 feet away without (more…)

The Godfather (Wii)

“You’ll be able to throw left and right hand jabs, hooks, and uppercuts; grab enemies and throw them around with both hands; perform head-butts and neck-snaps… We had so much fun with the controller possibilities that we mo-capped a bunch of exclusive moves to fit some of the gestures we’d developed, like the open-handed smack and pistol whip.”

Im Glad to see games like these are coming onto the Wii, where the Wii’s unique controls will give these kind of games an advantage over the other next gen consoles.

You can click the link below to go to the IGN page for the review, they also have one video up. Click here to watch.
